INTERVIEW: ASBESTOS IN OSBESTRICS

They play fast thraschcore and this is their first interview. Unfortunately, in the meantime they split up, but Peter was kind enough to answer a few questions....Here it goes!

1. So. This is your first interview ever! First off, please introduce yourselves – tell us something about A.I.O. . Who came with the idea for the band? How did this all begin?
With the hype around Municipal Waste reaching its peak, Hans decided to start a band with a similar style. since we all live in the same town and are all making music for a long time we knew each other from different occasions and founded the band.

2. What’s with the name?
The name has a bad spelling mistake. It is taken from some beavis and butthead episode. It was originally asbestos in OBSTETRICS.  But with the typo it sounds cooler and puts out the nonsense factor.

3. You played 2 shows in Cluj. What made you come back for the second show?
We played our first gig, and afterwards we partied so hard with the promoters of fabulous TBC they thought it would be cool to have us again. We had a day off so it worked. We went down to Bukarest played the show and went back without stopping. It took us 19 hours total. Thats how things have to be done: just fucking go!

 4. At the second show, you had the AWESOME opportunity to share the stage with The Business (the father of street punk, Oi! & british hc punk. lol.). How do you feel about that? Was it a memorable experience, as it was for us?
About The  Business i don't have much to say. I never liked oi! music, and the whole soccer themed crap, so it was rather boring to me. I really didn't know that this band existed until we were asked to play support.

5.  This was you first tour eva’ (judging from you myspace photos). How did it go and how come you decided to come all the way to Romania?
We came down to Romania because there were people who offered us some shows. When Hans was planning the tour we thought about maybe going to Poland and Czech Republik, but then we had too few gigs, and wanted more so we took everything anybody offered us. We were determined to go to the black sea if necessary.

6.  Which was the craziest show on the tour?
Craziest show on the tour was Cluj Napoca the second time, Cluj had the sickest crowd and we only had ten minutes to play, so we rushed through our entire set, without making any announcement, or  any break. We destroyed that fucking place within ten minutes.  And when i say destroyed, i mean it!

7. Did you notice any differences between the hc-punk scene in Romania and the one from Germany?
Since we have played only three shows in Romania its difficult to talk about a scene. I think people are more thankful for bands who come on tour, in Germany you have shows en masse, so many people are bored, which is stupid i think.

8.   Did you REALLY puke on our furniture? – no problem, just askin’
I think the idiots of Turn Away made up this story to have an excuse to cancel the show in budapest, and refuse the hospitality of balint from fuck your pride shows. They were cocky bitches in the first place. How can they dare to come to your place, use your bed, and nag about how dirty it is and stuff. And it wasn't dirty at all. They are the perfect examples of spoiled stuck up german "punkrock" pricks, who don't deserve anything more but to be puked in the fucking face! I didn't puke on anything and nobody remembers anything anyway. Thats because of two handsome horses :P So i don't believe it, but who cares anyway?

9.   What’s the story behind “Snirf!”?
“Snirf” derives from the workplace where I and Mario sometimes work together.  There where serbian workers and polish workers, and everytime they talked to each other either the serbians or the polish guys would make fun of their language, and go like "snirf snirf snirf" so it became kind of a word that we used everytime we didn't understand something. So on tour we had many communication problems, because not everybody speaks english, so we went like "snirf" everytime we didn't understand or couldn't find the right word, and you would have to get the meaning from the context.it  Ias really fun and worked astonishingly good! Everybody we met joined our little snirfclub and snirfed a lot.  So “snirf” is kinda like our own little esperanto.
I snirf
You snirf
He/ She/ It snirfs
We snirf
They snirf
You snirf

10. Any future plans?
No future plans, the band has split up. All good bands do two records, one tour and split up.

11. Any side projects?
No side projects at the time.

12 . How do you keep the band going although you live so far from each other?
We all live about one kilometer apart, Mario even lives like 100 meter from my house, but even that didn't keep the band going.
